I am surprised that all other threads are getting updated quite frequently. People are posting question related to their RFE and as usual once they get answer to their problems, they vanish. People are posting jokes on IV, but when it is their turn to call, we've to "bump" this thread and send e-mails to members. So pathetic.
I felt very sad when I read 30000+ members donated some 4000 dollars in last two months. I felt my donation of about 1000 dollars since 2006 is being wasted to answer questions of or to solve the problems of these free riders &/or one question members.

Thanks. I did sent email and fax last week.
What action do we expect on our letters/faxes to Congressmen, besides a routine reply USCIS is used to. This is not the first time that somebody is bothering them in their leizurely work. If they have tons of filings all over their offices, how do you expect them to find your case out of them.
USCIS continue to say that they have loads and loads of filings yet to be entered.

I dont expect USCIS to get all emotional because of our flowers and issue an update to their updated bulletin saying they will now accept and issue green cards.
The point is that we need to make awareness that there is a HUGE community that gets affected by every move they make and that we are an active and cohesive community and also to create awareness of this debacle.
Will you guys stop this madness atleast now?. If US started bending rules for people who send flowers, then everyone will try to manipulate the system. There is a lot of difference between the circumstances of originla gandhigiri and now. :rolleyes: That was our country back then, for crying out loud.We are in a foriegn country and the issuance of visa a previlege not a right.Why cant you guys understand this simple fact?. I agree nobody cares...for now, from experience i can tell you that i have advised most of my juniors to try MS in Australia, they can get an Aussi citizenship faster and most have listened. I am sure i am not the only one saying so, this could and will eventually affect the number of students(and the quality) coming here for MS/Phd etc, agreed that US is still the best place for a post graduation but the visa hassles of getting an EAD/H1/GC is not worth the effort, most of the students coming in will be over the hill in terms of their growth by the time they get the GC, if they get it in the first place...imho. I have had friends in EB1 NIW stuck in a mess for years.
IF you talk to the kids working in indian companies, most will tell you that they want to come to US for short term projects. Most know the mess that we are in. Sometimes we are so preoccupied with our issues that we are not aware that the world is watching us and learning from our mistakes

However, as filings are shuttled between centers in an effort to push work around, when data is entered, a different date appears. This needs to be corrected. Further, as there are still cases not owned by any center, weekly updates are misleading. Each center just reports on what it has accepted to deal with. This needs to be addressed as well.
I think congressmen should be approached with the larger and collective problem, which is likely to get attention/action. Individual cases just receive standard replies.

I also had my visa interview on 27-DEC-2007 @Mumbai (h1-b/h-4 renewal) and was told that I will receive an email in 2 business days, subsequent to which I will have to go to VSF office for getting my visa stamped.
Its been 6 business days and am yet to receive an email..I contacted VSF in Mumbai and they told me that all the H1-B applicants are in the same boat and they could not predict any time line...Planning to call the US-consulate tomorrow to see if they can provide some timeline..I already have rescheduled my return flight to US...If things continue this bad, am planning to use my AP to travel back to the US.

MY priority date is Feb 2005 (EB2 India) and Notice date is Sep, 04, 2007
The other day I took infopass but it was useless.. Any help in how to open an SR is highly appreciated guys

After hearing your case details on the automated system..you will have to Press 3 and then you can do it yourself. Explain to the customer service rep that your case is outside of normal processing times..etc. Keep us posted what happened.

if we pursue independent applications (so both spouses have the option to stop working if they want to); is this the way it works:
- file independent I-485s.
- whoever stops working changes status to H4 or F1 (depending on what they want to do)
- if one gets approved, the other withdraws the application made as a primary and files one as a dependent (since the other persons PD would be current at that point). Some lawyers say you can interfile the spouses I-140 at this stage, others say you cant.
Can you add a dependent after your 485 is approved?
Also, if I become a beneficiary on my wife's application, will I be able to maintain my H-1 status, and keep on renewing it?
My wife and I are now leaning towards independent filing, with no beneficiary for now.

My lawyer tried calling USCIS to find out the details and they mentioned they are still processing the July 2nd cases and application are stored in 4 different warehouses.
According to her at this point we can do nothing but wait until they finish processing all the application.

CADude and others... maybe your efforts are paying off. What I learned in this process is that have faith in your application filing. If everything is fine you'll definitely get the receipts. It may be either next week or in 2 weeks.
Couple of things...
1) Calling USCIS is useless...
2) Look for checks for cashed....
3) Keep in touch with our pending group. I gives you support and motivation.

The Rep Tom Tancredo a vociferous anti-immigrant both legal and illegal. The very fact that Lou Dobbs allowed his show as a mouthpiece to propagate incorrect information "about H1-Bs being illegal" is worthy of a lawsuit.
How about a petition to the CEO of Time Warner asking Lou to apologize ?

Tom Tancredo saying people overstay on H-1B after its "5 year" Expiration.
I think he do not even have a clue about H-1 B programme.
